We promote high standards of animal welfare to improve the lives of local animals.

Story

In 2015 I have set myself 3 challenges, thusly:

10th May - Great Manchester Run (did this 10k last year, so feeling pretty cocky)

23rd May - Venice Moonlight Half Marathon (gulp, it's a long 21km)

19th September - Trafford Centre Abseil (a mere 0.06km this one, but it is vertical, down the clock tower in one of the world's most challenging environments - the Trafford Centre.)

With all of these I will be trying to raise money for the RSPCA Manchester & Salford Branch.

I am very lucky to have worked for this local, independent branch of the RSPCA for the last 2.5 years. I'm one of a tiny handful of paid staff, the charity is hugely reliant on an amazing network of volunteers and supporters. It's all kept afloat by money raised by 3 charity shops and by fundraising efforts.

RSPCA Manchester and Salford doesn't have an animal centre but rehomes around 400 animals a year that have been rescued from cruelty or neglect, some of which lodge in my house for a while. One of the biggest expenses the branch has is its vet bill, which amounts to thousands every month. I'd love to raise some money to make a small dent in that and know that more cats and rabbits are happily vaccinated and neutered.
