Story
On Sun 23 September 2012 a team of colleagues will be cycling across the Pyrenees in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. We will be starting in Biarritz on the Atlantic coast and ending 5 days later at Argeles-sur-mer on the Med. The route covers 700km horizontally and 12km vertically; so pretty hilly!
The team is; Rick, Drew, Tim, Matt E, Matt H, Matt T, Andy, Fraser, Charlie, Chris and Mike. We'll post some photos/videos of any attempts at training for your amusement and keep you updated on progress in France.
We are raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as one of our good friends had need to call on their services last year during a training ride for a previous event. The charity provides a rapid emergency response to 5 million people across Yorkshire. It picked our mate up in Darley in North Yorkshire and 10 minutes later he was in the Leeds General Infirmary a journey that would have taken well over an hour by road. We are aiming to raise £108,000. Enough to keep one helicopter in the air for a month.
Donating through Just Giving is quick, easy and secure. It is the most efficient way to sponsor our ride and the Yorkshire air ambulance gets your money quicker. If you’re a tax payer Just Giving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid is reclaimed as well.
