Story
I was introduced to adventure fundraising for the first time when I ran 5k for cancer research a few years ago, and since then, I have been inspired to challenge myself for causes close to my heart.
My challenge this time is trekking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in December and in doing so, I am hoping to raise money for the people of Syria. I (as I am sure many of you) have been moved by the stories and the pictures and consider it a privilege to be able to help in my own little way.
I have watched with a heavy heart, footage showing the horrors that the refugees have gone through and are still going through, trying to save themselves from death and run for dear life. My trek is in honour of their "trek" to life - though I am humbly aware that mine does not even scratch the surface of what they are going through, I hope that through my journey, people are reminded of their plight and encouraged to help to save lives and restore hope.
On a more personal level, trekking the Inca trail will be, for me, proof, yet again that I can do whatever I set my mind to do. I know that it will test and stretch me physically and mentally and I am looking forward to the personal growth that will be the result. I also get to see Machu Picchu. Woohoo!
I invite you to join me on this journey and sponsor me by clicking the link on the right. I am funding my trip myself, so all that you give will go to The Syria Relief. All donations gratefully received. I plan to update the page with photos of the trek. Big smile and many thanks in advance!
