Story
We have decided to climb the roof of Africa - Kilimanjaro (5,895m).
Our trip will start on 21st of August and we would like to ask for your help in raising funds to support Tanzanian communities.
The amount of those in need is enormous… We have chosen to
support the development of solar water wells in Tanzanian Schools as we feel it is a permanent solution to one of the most important problems over there. Clean water means a lot – e.g. less diseases, better nutrition and children spending their time in schools rather than carrying the water from remote locations. We are sure the hours spend on trekking Kilimanjaro will teach us to better appreciate the availability of clean water in everyday lives.
The project is run by Jim O’Connor from Esh in North England. We would like to encourage you to visit project website, read Jim’s story or simply watch the video that you can find over here: http://www.dorothyswells.org/about-us/video/
Apart from this small fundraising project, we have also tried to organize our trip so that it benefits Tanzanian community as much as possible. We have organized it with local guides and chosen to stay in the Stella
Maris Lodge, which is a school for orphaned children.
Are we ready?
We have been training and collecting equipment for the last
few months, climbing the highest peak of Spain (3,700m) on the way. Let’s hope Kilimanjaro will let us reach its summit. We will do our best!
