We fund and power world-class research to beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

We are ''Nairacs’ Rogue Riders'', a 25 strong motley crew of property and retail specialists (architects, agents, asset managers and beyond) named after NewRiver Retail’s very popular Development Director, François Nairac, who sadly died of Pancreatic Cancer in April 2016.

Our mission is to cycle The Way of the Roses, a 170 mile ride over 3 days from Morecambe to Bridlington from June 16th-18th 2016 to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

The team of 25 who will be saddling up on the road will include members of François family, NewRiver Retail, Jackson Criss, DWF, Corstorphine + Wright, Knight Frank and Barclays.

Get involved: if you fancy getting in on the action, there will also be a stationary gym bike in our offices on Maddox Street from the 16-17th June for the “home team” to cover the same distance as the team on the road! Please let us know if you would like to participate by contacting lainsalu@nrr.co.uk

In memory of François, we would like to raise over £20,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund to advance research into pancreatic cancer.

For François from your Rogue Riders.

About pancreatic cancer
Around 9,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year in the UK.
Pancreatic cancer is unusually aggressive and does not respond very well to chemotherapy.
It has the worst survival rate of any common cancer - only 3 in every 100 people diagnosed will live for 5 years or more. This survival rate has barely improved in 40 years.
It is a difficult cancer to diagnose because symptoms are often vague (the most common being weight loss, abdominal pain and jaundice) and generally only present when the cancer has already spread to other organs.
Surgery to remove the tumour is the only potential curative treatment, but around 9 in 10 patients are diagnosed too late for surgery.
Despite being the UK’s 5th biggest cancer killer, pancreatic cancer receives less than 2% of national research funding.

About Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (PCRF)
Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is a national charity founded in 2004 to support world-class research that will lead to the development of more effective detection, diagnosis and treatment.
To date it has funded 40 research projects in the UK and Ireland worth over £6 million.

In January 2016 it also launched the world’s first national pancreas tissue bank, which will accelerate the progress of research into pancreatic cancer in the UK and internationally. All of PCRF’s work is funded by public donations. For more information, visit www.pcrf.org.uk

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. With a 3% survival rate, more research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.
