Story
(Scroll down for an update on my climb on the 3rd Sept. 2010).
I am hoping to climb Ben Nevis, with my daughter Leila on the 5th September 2010 insha Allah. (At 4,409 feet high, it is the highest mountain in Britain and is also called the 'Mountain of Heaven'!). This is to raise funds to build our new mosque in Cambridge (click on the video link on your left for more info.).
Today, I know most people are thinking of the disaster victims in Pakistan. I therefore pledge to donate one pound for every pound donated here up to a maximum of £200, for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan. This is in addition to the £500 I have pledged here for the new Cambridge mosque.
May Allah bless you for your generosity.
Update on September 12th - Many thanks to all of you who donated funds to the new mosque by sponsoring my climb. I reached the summit of Ben Nevis on Friday the 3rd September with my husband Shah, who very kindly accompanied me. It took us 6 hours to climb up and another 4 hours to descend! The views at the top were absolutely inspiring. As we gazed at this amazing spectacle of tall mountains stabilising the earth, we were overcome by the beauty of nature... I have attached a few photos to this website for you to enjoy. May Allah reward you for your generous sadaqa.
"Whoever builds a mosque, desiring thereby Allah's pleasure, Allah builds for him the like of it in paradise." Prophet Muhammad (Sal).
In addition I donated the £200 pledged to the Pakistan flood appeal. I did it through Muslim Hands on the 9th September 2010.
