Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In 2011 we established "For Pete's Sake" in memory of my Dad, Peter Hanlon who was one of the earliest members of the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA). Following a car accident in 1972, my Dad spent nearly 40 years paralysed and confined to a wheelchair.
"For Pete's Sake" is a series of challenges to raise funds for the SIA. So far, with the help of our amazing friends and family and various team events we have now raised over £5,000 and are keen to get this eventually to £10k.
We have completed a number of challenges to date - In 2011 I kicked it off by cycling from the East to West Coast of England, our son Archie at the age of 9 ran 5 miles from our house to his rugby club, our daughter Daisy when aged 3 completed a sponsored silence. In 2012 I cycled from North to South Devon and in 2013 my wife Donna completed the Great North Run - all to raise funds for the SIA. 2015's challenge was led by my 13 year old son Archie who decided to mark becoming a teenager by cycling 70 miles, the entire way around the Isle of Wight. He was joined by me, his 'old man'. He called this challenge 'Cycling with Grumpy' - I can't think why! He raised an amazing £1,105.
We are now taking a break for a year or so but hope to encourage our friends and family to undertake their own 'For Pete's Sake Challenge' and help us reach our target of £10k for the SIA. We will let you know what we have planned, later in the year.
In the meantime, please continue to make donations - every penny helps.
