Story
Many thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for St Wilfrid’s Hospice. I completed the Brighton Marathon in April and am trekking to Everest Base Camp over 16 days in November to raise essential funds to keep St.Wilfrid's running.
St.Wilfrid's is important to me because of the first-rate care and friendliness they provided to my wife, Claire, myself and our loved ones during her final few months battling cervical cancer.
Claire was admitted to St Wilfrid’s Hospice during her last few days; it was during this period I was truly amazed by the service the team provided, from the level of professionalism of the medical teams to the friendliness and care provided by volunteers, catering staff and complementary therapies team. What came across clearly to me was the selflessness of all involved, the people I met at St Wilfrid’s are a rare breed in this hectic world. After Claire past away, St Wilfrid’s special care continued for me and my family, and has continued to help.
St Wilfrid’s made Claire’s last few days comfortable, surrounded by her loved ones – to me that is priceless. For these reasons, I want to help St.Wilfrid’s continue to provide their special services each year.
At any one time there are approximately 220 patients under St Wilfrid’s Hospice care in their homes, in nursing homes, in hospital or in the Hospice. This service only receives 14% of the £6 million annual running costs from the NHS – so with your generous donation St.Wilfrid’s can continue to make the final days of many terminally ill people comfortable. Without your support St.Wilfrid's could not continue.
