Story

RBLI set up ‘David’s Day’ in memory of David Rowlands MBE, a former Director of RBLI. David had two passions in life, steam railways and enhancing the lives of people with disabilities. When David passed away unexpectedly in 2008, RBLI decided to establish David’s Day, a day out for children with disabilities and their families, in his memory.

The first David’s Day was held with 50 children enjoying a day of traditional entertainment and ride on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. These events have been a great success and allowed the children to enjoy a unique and exciting day out, while giving their parents or carers a much needed break. Feedback from families after the previous events has been that they would love it if more days could be organised!

We entered a team from the Weald of Kent golf club to playing the 2013 RBLI golf day which raised £6400 for David's day. My team members and I decided we not only wanted to play in the 2014 RBLI Golf Day, we also wanted to do something in addition. Hence our 72 hole in a day golf challenge. Please donate anything you can to help these disabled children.
