Story
As you may know, racehorses have been a passion of mine for nearly 40 years. I have always wanted to ride in a horse race. Finally I am going to do so: Newbury, Saturday, 28th February.
On the Flat, 1 mile 5 furlongs, 8 runners, full gallop. Exciting!
After a 14 year break, I started riding out again for Paul Webber at the start of October. I ask why did I ever stop? The training for this race has been very energising, enjoyable and worthwhile.
This charity race is in aid of a very good cause: the rehoming and retraining of ex-racehorses for another life, after they finish their racing careers. It also allows children to connect with horses.
Your generous and kind donation will go to see that Greatwood, one of the few centres in the UK, will continue to serve these magnificent animals (see the video below).
Your donation via this page or text will qualify for Gift Aid too.
Thank you for sponsoring me and helping out. It would be lovely if you could be with me on the day at Newbury to enjoy it too. They say that there has not been a comeback to the saddle like this one since Lester Piggott in 1990!
All the best,Nick Higgins
