We are raising funds in memory of Chelsea, who passed away in January from Haemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, she was 20yrs old.
Chelsea was a healthy 20 yr old girl, she loved going out with her friends, going festivals etc.
In December just before Christmas she became unwell with swollen glands, she was told that it was glandular fever, after few days she was getting worse she was in severe pain with throat, which she was then treated for tonsilites.
After a week still no better and she was admitted to hospital which she started getting worse by the day, doctors were treating her for different things her liver & spleen were swollen at this point.
She was then transferred to intensive care, after another few days HLH was mentioned and a bone marrow test was taken, she was treated with chemo & steroids.
Unfortunately Chelsea was critically ill at this point and her organs were failing, despite everything the Drs did for Chelsea it was to late and she passed on 17th January 2016.
HLH is rare, so diagnosis is delayed and misdiagnosis common, which is why we are keen to help fundraise and help towards making awareness of this condition more known.
