We are home to the Chelsea Pensioners to care for veteran soldiers

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.

Nicola Rivis is attempting to complete the Great Wall of China walk to help raise funds for the Royal Hospital Chelsea, home of the Chelsea Pensioners from 22nd- 30th October.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is one of the oldest retirement homes in the world. Founded by King Charles II for the ‘succour and relief of veterans’, it opened to the very first Chelsea Pensioners in 1692. Over 300 years later it continues to serve this same purpose, offering a home, comradeship and the highest standards of care to retired soldiers of the British Army, in recognition of their loyal service to the Nation.

Today some 300 army veterans call the Royal Hospital Chelsea home, including those who have served in World War II, Korea, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and the Falkland Islands.

The Royal Hospital Chelsea is an independent charity funded in part by a grant from the government, but it also relies on the generosity of individuals to make up the shortfall in funding.

Please sponsor Nicola in this amazing challenge and support the care of both present and future generations of Chelsea Pensioners as well as safeguard this unique historic site.
