Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am taking part in Grant Thornton UK's 2012 Gold Challenge to test my stamina and raise money for StreetGames at the same time. Over the year, I will cycle commute 2012km, row 201.2km and run 20.12km. I have recently been confirmed as a 2012 Olympic Torch runner on 24 July close to home, which is a great honour - but I must point out that this is not directly connected to my sponsorship appeal.

Streetgames is a sports charity that brings sport to the doorstep of young people in disadvantaged communities across the UK. As a mini-rugby coach I know how structured play can gives kids a sense of joint purpose and brings rewards through self-improvement and high performance. My career has taken me to many countries and I have always connected with local communities through my sport of rowing. Many kids will have a better future as a result of StreetGames activities, giving them a real alternative to anti-social activity or worse.
