We sadly lost Nigel to Mesothelioma in April 2015 at the raw age of 57.
As an alternative to flowers, we have created this donation page in his honour.
As a strong and determined man, he successfully fought this rare and aggressive form of cancer for over three years. No one would ever have guessed, given his positive attitude and effortless ability to carry on smiling and cracking jokes - such a fantastic role model. It certainly never managed to diminish his meticulous attention for detail, not even a little bit :).
We will be eternally grateful for this extra time we had with him, thanks to treatments available. However, we obviously wanted more.
Mesothelioma is a rare strain of cancer (caused by asbestos) but this means it doesn't receive as much attention as other strains. Some of you may be aware that we were exploring a new treatment called immunotherapy which would have cost us considerably as although it's been approved for similar strains of cancer, trials have not yet been conducted to approve it for mesothelioma.
We hope that your kind donations to the 'June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund' will help to further the development of treatments like immunotherapy so they can become more widely available to people like Nigel.
He will be forever loved and sorely missed.
