Story
Hi all,
In memory of my sister Kirsti I am going to be raising money for 2 charities: Cancer Research and Salisbury Hospice, where she was cared for so well.
Kirsti fought so hard for around 2 years, when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. She was a brave soul, who always managed to laugh her way through treatment after treatment, even though she felt pretty awful.
When Kirsti was told there was nothing more they could do, she lived another month and during that time had a birthday party, where she ate ice-cream, drank a sip of beer and stayed out beyond her curfew at the hospice. Her response to this was "well what are they going to do? Ground me!?".
During that month she also went to her son's parent's evening, took a trip home to have blended roast dinner (as she really needed chicken!) and made sure she wrote messages to her son Daniel and husband Adam, with the help of family!
At the Hospice they said that Kirsti was one of the most fun, but also one of the most challenging patients as she definately had a very strong character!
We will miss Kirsti, so I will be doing 40 events over the next year to mark this sad occasion of her passing on to bring about something good to others and help those in similar circumstances:
The 40 events will include:
Having a tattoo a zumbathon a yogathon Paris-Roubaix (70kms)
Pretty Muddy (5km run) London to Brighton (cycle)
Palace to Palace (cycle) Swim around the pier zip wire
Giant swing a scootathon "My School's got Talent" show
Climbing the Gherkin (38 floors)
etc etc etc and will continue to update this page regularly to let you know of any progress.
thanks for all of your support!
Nikki
