Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and to donate to Sense UK. We are very proud that our Northern Trust Sportive will be held in aid of Sense UK and we ask that you all give generously.

Sense is a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind or have sensory impairments. Sense have been supporting people who have sensory impairments to enjoy more independent lives for the last 60 years.

Sense was started by a group of families who had deafblind children after being seriously affected by rubella during pregnancy. Today, a growing number of children are born prematurely with a range of medical conditions that often include sight and hearing impairments. There are also older people who develop sight and hearing loss at later life.

Please support Sense and help us reach our target through making a donation or bidding on our auction at the Northern Trust Sportive 2015 on 22 May 2015.

Targets:

MULTI-SENSORY ROOM:  £10,000 would allow Sense to purchase new interactive equipment and update the multi-sensory room used for relaxation and interactive therapy.

HYDROTHERAPY POOL: With another £10,000, Sense could update the pool which is currently used for physiotherapy, fun and relaxation with LED sensory lights, and a UV Pool Filtering System.

MULTI-PURPOSE VEHICLE: £30,000 would allow the purchase of another multi-purpose adapted people carrier which would be of tremendous value to the centre.

ART ROOM: £5,000 buys new materials for creative sessions such as pottery, woodwork, photography and textiles.

COMPUTING EQUIPMENT: £4,000 will buy iPads and other interactive learning equipment to help users become technologically independent.
