Story
Winnie was found whilst Nowzad
was out on TNVR project on an Afghan election committee compound.
She was suffering from a terrible skin condition which we were able to treat and thankfully cure.
She was desperate for love and never left our side and it was decided to bring her back to the shelter to find her a home. We are delighted to say this has happened for her and she will be going the UK far away from the dangers of living on the streets.
Her new owner says:
I had the delightful opportunity to
become acquainted with Winnie during the course of visit to Kabul during October 2015 when she was brought to the guest house where I was staying by
Louise.
I had previously spent almost five years in Afghanistan and rescued a dog whilst there. When it was time to return to the UK and bring the small mongrel dog back to my home and become
part of our 'dog family' it was Nowzad that made the eventual journey back to England possible.
This very special dog quickly established a remarkable
friendship with our two Golden Retrievers and it seemed as if she had been here
forever. Sadly Misty as she had been renamed died last September due to a brain
tumour. The success of giving a home to Misty encouraged my wife and I to give
a home to two other dogs rescued from Romania after appalling treatment there.
I thought our 'family was complete until the
extra-ordinary coincidence of meeting Louise again and spending an hour with Winnie. Having taken a considerable numbers of pictures of her and
sending then back to my wife it did not take long for us to decide that we would like to offer a loving home to Winnie.
The wish to have her join us and give her a happy lifelong home is our firm commitment but as I have chosen to retire and make up for many years away from home it is not possible for us to meet the full costs of transporting Winnie to the UK.
I hope on behalf of Winnie it will be possible to attract generous support from those who know the
value of the miracles made possible by Nowzad and the salvation they have provided to so many helpless and forsaken animals. If Winnie reaches us she
will enjoy the company of our four dogs, be given love and affection and cared for in every way.
Whatever help can be offered will be very much appreciated.
If, for whatever reason, the companion animal rescue is not successful (such as disease or injury) then at the discretion of Nowzad Dogs, the funds collected via this Justgiving page will be allocated to support the vital daily operational costs of the Nowzad Dogs small animal clinic and shelter in Kabul.
