Story
Joby & Marie Bourgaize, Zola & Steve Saunders, Hannah Green, Lisa, & Andy Whittet, Chantelle Le Cheminant, Chantelle Cook, Simon Marley, Daniel Marriott, Rhys Gower, Chris King, Damian Le Tocq, Greg Zimmerman & Shane Toms will be running this year's half marathon for Families of Ocean Ward.
Joby and Marie's daughter Evie had open heart surgery in 2014 at 8 weeks old.
They had spent 3 months in Guernsey hospital with Evie with suspected reflux. They then flew over to Southampton for a check-up. Thinking they would only be there for a night, much to their surprise, the Doctor discovered a hole between the two main arteries of Evie's heart and she needed open heart surgery. They operated two days later and thankfully Evie is now doing fantastic.
Not thinking they would be away for long, they went to Southampton with hardly any possessions and left their two year old son Alfie at home. Ocean Ward provided them with emotional support, arranged a place for them to stay, provided a bed for family members, provided emergency packs and provided the most incredible care to their daughter. When their son flew over a few days later, they welcomed him with open arms letting him use the playroom and the facilities.
Marie and Joby will forever be in debt to Dr Larvsen, Dr Curry and the amazing staff on Ocean Ward. If it wasn't for them find what was wrong with Evie, she probably wouldn't be here today.
Joby, Marie and a team of friends named the Ocean Ward Warriors have decided to run the Guernsey's half marathon to raise money for this amazing cause - as a thank you for all of their help and support.
