I have been selected to go on a Girlguiding International service trip to Malawi with 12 other girls and 3 leaders from the London and South-East region.  We are going to help out the charity Fisherman's Rest (www.fishermansrest.net) for 3-weeks during July and August 2016.  

When in Malawi we will be taking part in community projects such as visiting local schools to  run activities and reading groups.  We will be riding the "book bus" to the rural areas outside Blantyre.  The book bus in an overlander which is packed with resources and books to use when we are out in the rural schools.   We will also be running a holiday programme at the Tilitonse  community centre; as well as helping with repairing boreholes, visiting subsistance farmers and seeing eco-stoves being built in communities.  

The Fisherman's Rest charity has been working in Malawi for over 25-years and works closely with the local community to improve supply of drinking water, provide education and support local farmers.

The total cost of the trip will be £3,000 which I need to raise.  In addition to this page, I will be running cake sales and other fund raising events!  I will keep you  updated with upcoming events through this page.
