Story
On Saturday 21 September the Braitch family are organising a day of events to raise money for the fantastic ‘Jeans for Genes’ charity. Supporting children in the UK with genetic disorders, which as many of you know is particularly close to our hearts as our eldest son Ben has a rare and terminal genetic disorder called Sandhoff disease. We ask that if you cannot make any of the events on the day, please do still dig-deep and sponsor Georgie Braitch and the other fun-runners.
At 1pm the ‘Great Lakes Run’ will take place at the picturesque Thatcham Nature Discovery Centre located at Muddy Lane, Lower Way, Thatcham, West Berkshire RG19 3FU. Georgie Braitch and friends will test their fitness (J) on a 5-lap run around the beautiful lake. Please feel free to donate or come and cheer them along. There is an adventure playground and wildlife centre with café to keep you amused whilst they huff & puff their way round.
From 2pm onwards we invite you to spend the afternoon having a laugh at the Lakeside Super Bowl located at Newbury Leisure Park, Lower Way, Thatcham, RG19 3AL. This complex is a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the lake where the run will take place, so it’s easy to transition between the two. There will be exclusive rates on the day for anyone wanting to 10-pin bowl, eat and drink. Plus there is a kids club there, arcade games and other activities.
From 5pm onwards the doors will open to the upstairs music venue and bar where we invite you to relax, have a few drinks and then around 6pm a newly formed local band ‘outbynine’ will play their first ever live gig for your amusement/pleasure. The band will play some popular stuff from Brit-pop through to 90’s/2000’s chart rock to more current hits. Outbynine comprises Lois on vocals, Marcin on bass, Andy on Rhythm guitar/vocals, Wayne on lead guitar and Chris Braitch on drums.
Outbynine band are donating their services free of charge so that we can donate as much as possible to Jeans for Genes. We ask that if you wish to attend the evening gig you make a minimum donation of £5 per person through this Just Giving page (so that Giftaid is added to each donation). We do ask that if you are feeling generous and want to help the band & organisers cover some of their costs/travel expenses there will be a ‘tip-jar’ on the bar that will help cover this.
Come along, have fun and more importantly help raise plenty of money for this fantastic cause.
Many thanks from the Braitch family and the band outbynine.
