Hello, my name is Owen Parsons and I am in Year 5 at Glasllwch Primary School in Newport, South Wales.

I have been selected out of 400 kids in Wales to be in a “VERY” special choir called Only Kids Aloud which is part of the Aloud Charity.

At the moment we are busy rehearsing for the most amazing trip which will take place in May 2014.  Cape Town Opera have invited us to visit them in Cape Town as part of a cultural exchange and to perform in a special concert to celebrate 20 years of democracy in South Africa.

Every kid in the choir has to try and raise enough money to pay for their flight so I have a target of £850 to try and raise.

I have already done a sponsored silence back in October and my school did a wear your own clothes and pay a £1 which raised loads.

At Christmas time some of the South Wales kids did carol singing - we visited Bridgend and Newport Sainsburys and the Celtic Manor Christmas Kingdom and raised £1300 in total!

I also did a singing Christmas card for Cazbah Events and Marketing which was great fun.

My next big Challenge is to try and raise the remaining money I need by making and selling Welshcakes at my school Eisteddfod on 7th March. I have managed to get some friends to help with selling them and over half term I am going to make some leaflets to hand out at school. Fingers crossed people buy them :-)
