Story
Colin, Matt and Karen are looking forward to running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October in aid of the Royal Voluntary Service, one of the Pension Insurance Corporation’s partner charities.
Royal Voluntary Service is a charity that works with volunteers to enrich the lives of older people and their families across Britain. Volunteers, ordinary men and woman, give their time and energy to support the older people living nearby. Their aim is to make life happier for older people.
Please support us in our fund-raising for this great event and cause.
Our stories:
Karen Dignan completed the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2012 as her first (and favourite) half marathon. In 2014/2015, Karen had to avoid vigorous exercise for many months due to illness and a major operation but over the last year has focused on returning to fitness, particularly since joining PIC in January this year. No special targets other than to finish, enjoy the amazing royal parks and raise as much money for the Royal Voluntary Service as possible.
Colin Hutchinson is a keen sports enthusiast, but has never run a half marathon, preferring much shorter distances of 5k to 10k. Whilst recovering from a prolonged period of ill health, Colin rediscovered his love of running and cycling, so the opportunity to run for a great cause was too good to ignore. Despite a spate of recent injuries, Colin is committed to completing the Royal Parks Half Marathon and helping a
great charity in so doing!
Matt Richards has previously run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2010 and 2011 and has completed a number of half marathons, triathlons and the London marathon since, although has not run further than 10k since 2013 so this could be quite a challenge! As Matt leads
the charge in encouraging others at PIC to take on sporting challenges, it seemed only fair for him to get stuck in and do one himself, and with such a great charity to support this was the perfect opportunity to do so and dust off the running shoes in the process.
