Story
On 15th April 2013 our son Ravi was born with a rare form of blindness called Lebers Congenital Amarousis. Ravi is a white cane user and beginning to learn Braille. This came as a huge shock and is never something any family can plan for. Since then Ravi has developed into a happy, healthy and loveable young boy who does most things that any other sighted 3 year old boy does-running, jumping, fighting with his sister etc! He continues to amaze all of us with what he can do. However, with no vision things have been difficult for Ravi and he is certainly not as advanced as his sighted peers in certain aspects of life for example changing, eating and moving around safely. We are well aware that there will be even more challenges ahead but with the help of family, friends, medical professionals and charities (like Useful Vision) we know Ravi can lead a successful, fulfilling and independent life. He may want to run the GNR one day so its time for me to get fit so I can do it with him-he'll probably be guiding me around though!
