Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit PTRC Ramp JustGiving page.
Putney Town Rowing Club (PTRC) is an open access rowing club based in mortlake (we started life in 1922 under a pub in Putney). Because of expansion we moved to Mortlake in existing boathouses that had no proper river access for rowers, except for a set of steps over 100 metres away. It is 'interesting' to launch or land a rowing boat from these steps, and we have become adept over the years!
However, the location and the nature of the steps means that our older members struggle and we have to limit the number of courses and young people learning to row because we cannot supervise from the club.
For more than 10 years we have tried to raise money to build new launching outside the club and we are finally closer than ever.
Through the fantastic efforts of the membership and the Development Committee we are now SO close to being able to build the new ramp.
We are just £9000 away from achieveing our target and starting the building works - which we hope could be completed by the end of March 2012!!!!!
We have had fantastic support from Barnes Workhouse Fund, The Mayor's Facilities Fund and British Rowing, as well as all the members that have already donated.
So we just need a final push to get over this final hurdle!
Thanks for your help.
