Story
In October 2012 I received the devastating news that I had bowel cancer, following on from surgery and chemo I thought I had beaten it. Then less than 6 months later the cancer had spread to my liver so more surgery and chemo was needed. This was successful, but at this stage I was told I had an aggressive cancer so the outlook wasn't bright. Despite the fact that the cancer returned in my liver again the following year, I am pleased to say that after 5 operations and 3 lots of chemo I am currently cancer free. A lot of that is down the the wonderful love and support of my family and friends, but the care and treatment I have received at the Royal Surrey, St Lukes and from my oncologist Dr Essapen has been amazing. The BRIGHT charity is based at St Lukes and specializes in research and treatments for bowel and similar cancers. I felt I would like to give something back to the hospital that has extended my life beyond expectations.
I am so pleased that my best friend Shara will be joining me along with 2 of my children Emma and Dave, and Emma's friend Emma. I hope Dave realises he is there to help me round the 5k course and to pull/push myself and Shara over the obstacles!
