Story

Families spending time on the NNU while their baby/babies are being cared for need to take time out of the nurseries. We have two main rooms: the Parents' Room and the Quiet Room.

The Parents' Room is vital to help families recharge their batteries, make calls, make tea, use the microwave or chat to other parents. We are immensely grateful for the generous donations our supporters have already given towards the refurbishment of this room. Your donations have bought new sofas, tables and other furniture that has helped create a more comfortable environment for our families during this challenging time in their lives.

The Quiet Room can be used for a range of needs, including giving parents a bit of much-needed peaceful space when their baby is experiencing a particularly difficult time. We have received a lot of feedback from parents and staff on the unit to say they would also like this room to be improved.  So, this is our next project.

We would like to fund a new sofa bed, chairs, storage, a bookcase for a library of useful books, paintings, lighting, a carpet and smaller touches to make this room more personal and homely.

We have been extremely lucky and have been offered the free services of an interior designer, Robyn, who will point us in the right direction.

First Touch and the families whose babies are being cared for in the unit need your help to do this, so please donate to us if you can.
