Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A year ago, my son Oliver was involved in a collision with a car in the early hours of a Sunday morning, suffering horrific life threatening injuries. The fact that he is not only alive today, but has made a full recovery, is down to a lot of amazingly talented people; the nurse who was on her way home after a night out with friends, the ambulance crew who responded, the amazing trauma and intensive care teams at the QMC and many more.
Another factor to Ollie's survival and recovery, was a volunteer doctor on board the ambulance that responded, who assisted the paramedics and worked on Ollie at the scene and on the journey to the QMC. These volunteer doctors belong to East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme (EMICS) and work along side the crews of the East Midlands Ambulance Service. The charity is in urgent need of more funds to purchase specialist equipment and to help recruit more doctors.
Running my first half marathon and raising money for EMICS is my way of saying thank you for what they did for Oliver.
