Story
First of all thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for my first ever London Marathon. After 7 years of unsuccessful attempts of getting in through the ballot and charity places, Papworth Trust have enabled me the opportunity to fulfil my ambition of completing my personal lifelong challenge of the 26.2 Miles.
I have only developed my running distance since starting with Papworth Running Group last January 2015, I have been hugely motivated by the inspirational group of people in the group, and also run past the Papworth Trust headquarters every week as part of our training so it really feels like running for them is simply meant to be and I want to do all I can to support the many projects that help every single person to live their life to the full.
I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2016 for Papworth Trust because I support their innovative rehabilitation programme.
This year, I’m running the London Marathon and helping to bridge the gap between hospital and home for disabled people in the UK.
Right now thousands of disabled and older people are lying in hospital beds, waiting to go home. They often can't as they don’t receive the social care they need when back in the community.
I'm supporting an innovative rehab model that allows doctors to discharge patients with confidence. MacFarlane Grieve House provides newly discharged patients with 4 weeks of first-class care in a state of the art residential complex to get them ready to go home.
This project is already saving the NHS thousands of pounds and freeing up hospital beds for newly admitted patients. With your support, it will provide a great model for the rest of the UK to follow.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Every little helps, I would just be eternally grateful for any support you can provide for me on the day and for Papworth Trust and all of its projects in the future.
