Story

Last November, our dad got diagnosed with stomach cancer. I was 11 at the time and my brother had just turned 14. After 3 sessions of chemotherapy at Dorchester hospital, we got told he would have to have an operation. This would remove the cancer cells from his body. This would mean trekking over to Bournemouth hospital. His operation was undertaken on my 12th birthday. Now, my dad has to have radiotherapy and more chemotherapy. He can still have his chemotherapy at Dorchester, but he has to be in Poole to have his radiotherapy. That's what we want to change.

The Fortuneswell Cancer Trust are trying to build a cancer centre. This would be where other cancer patients living in the local area could be treated. They would no longer have to travel to Poole most days.

The money you donate will be used to help fund the centre's costs. It will take a few years and £100,000 to build. We would like to help the centre raise these costs.

To raise money for this very worthy cause, my mum, my brother and myself are going to be walking from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire. A total of 190 miles in 18 walking days and 1 rest day. It would be great if you could sponsor us and help us achieve this goal.

We are aiming to raise £500 which would give the team at Fortuneswell Cancer Trust a great boost! Also visit https://www.justgiving.com/account/your-pages/Penny-Sturt to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Between us we're aiming to raise at least £5 for every one of those miles!
