Many of us have pets who mean the world to us and know what it is like to lose them. For some a pet is their sole companion and the reason they get out of bed in the morning.When we lose them to a disease which is poorly understood or for which there is no known cure or treatment this heartache is made even worse.

I am not going to be a hero, nor am I going to run a marathon or cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats. I am just me, a mum, a BSAVA volunteer and a vet who is passionate about her patients who breaks her own heart when there is nothing I can do. BUT what I can do is donate my time and my energy to raise funds and awareness for a charity who's aim is to improve the health of our pets by relieving the distress and pain for the diseases for which we currently have no effective treatments.The charity who's mission is to fund that vital clinical research needed to prevent and treat or cure those illnesses.

On Saturday 8th October 2016 East Midlands BSAVA are hosting a Charity Masquerade Ball at Derbyshire County Cricket Club, This is going to be a fantastic night complete with red carpet, sparkling wine reception, 3 course dinner, raffle and live band. In addition we are honoured to have Leven Brown, a multi Guinness world record holder ocean rower and survival expert as our guest speaker. We hope to raise £10000 for this fantastic charity.
