Story
'Not again', I hear you sigh. Yes, marathon number 9 is just around the corner in New York City.
I have now raised over £25,000 for various charities along the way and worn out almost as many training shoes. This time I am supporting a new charity which I hope gets your attention.
Of course every charity is a good cause and in these times of austerity it makes it extra diffciult for charities to receive the support they need.
The Andrew Grene Foundation (AGF) is a charity dedicated to supporting the people of Haiti through education, loans and building projects.
In a country where 90 per cent of the population is unemployed, AGF provide microloans to help women establish subsistence businesses and provide for their children. AGF has just built a new school in Port-au-Prince, where an estimated 80% of the schools previously in operation had been destroyed in the catastrophic earthquake of 2010. AGF seek to aid a land ravaged by years of natural disaster and political upheaval.
The work of AGF is dedicated to the memory of Andrew Grene, a UN worker and one of the many thousands of people who died in the Haiti earthquake of 12 January 2010.
I hope just a small amount from your purse/wallet can be donated and yet again thank you so much for reading my page.
