Adopt a School is the charity of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and was founded in 1990 to teach children and young people about food and cookery in a holistic way, with a focus on the appreciation of food, where it comes from, why we need it and how to cook it. The sessions, which range in content from taste and sensory to advanced practical cookery and front of house, are so successful and unique because they are delivered by passionate, qualified chefs and hospitality professionals – mostly Academicians from the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts. Adopt a School works with primary schools, hospital schools and Special Educational Needs schools, delivering sessions in the classroom (and sometimes in restaurants or on farms) and reaches around 20,000 children every year
