Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Team Wadsworth's JustGiving page to raise money for St Gemma's Hospice.
We've established this page in memory of Christine Wadsworth, nee Randerson, who wanted us to support the valuable end of life care they give.
Team Wadsworth was originally made up of Chris' husband Phil, stepson Nick and her friends Sana and Donna who participated in a number of running events in 2013 with more to come!
Please note that Team Wadsworth is only PART of the fundraising efforts for St Gemma's in Christine's memory and we will try and update the offline amount to reflect the amazing contributions being made by friends, family and especially not least her West Yorkshire police friends and colleagues - the extended "family" who show great strength and kindness.
Phil completed his first half marathon at this year's Great North Run after years of 'gentle persuasion' by Chris to run more than 3 miles! Donna ran this again after being trained by and running the GNR with Chris in 2004.
Nick completed the Tough Mudder, a gruelling 12 mile obstacle course, which included fire and partial electrocution (!) on the weekend of 7/8th September.
Sana and Donna will be running the Lochness Marathon at the end of September. This will be Sana's first ever marathon and she was 'gently persuaded' to do this by Chris and Donna at Chris' birthday party in March.
Donna will be completing her first ultra run on 19th October by completing the 40 odd mile Lyke Wake route followed by the 30 mile White Rose Ultra on 3rd November.
Chris loved running and walking and her enthusiasm for this and life in general makes it seem fitting that we set ourselves various challenges to raise money for a cause that she also became extremely passionate about.
Bernie, Jimmy and Chalkie Howarth joined the the Team in February 2014 and Chalkie is dragging them off to the Bark in the Park on Sunday 23rd February 2014 - a St Gemma's event in two places - Golden Acre Park and Temple Newsam. Please give them your support through donations to this site. Christine would have been proud!
Please give what you can, any amount be it small or large will make a huge difference to those people who, like Chris and her family, deserve the best end of life care and support available.
