Story
Buy a plate-painting, entirely for charity, made as part of a ceramics workshop with survivors of domestic abuse...
With the support of Royal Female School of Art and Mary Ward Centre, artist Nicola McCartney is working with a fantastic group of women from the charity Woman's Trust, which provides counselling, personal development workshops and support groups for survivors of domestic abuse/violence.
Together they up-cycle and paint local charity shop crockery, inspired by women they find pioneering and influential. Workshops act as an extension of Woman’s Trust support groups and an opportunity for students to reflect on how creativity might empower the role and perception of woman.
All the ceramics produced will be exhibited and for sale until 12 July 2014, the full proceeds of which will go back into charity again, this time for Woman's Trust.
In return for your donation, you will receive one of the painted plates featured here (subject to availability, they are all unique). Just leave a message stating which plate you would like from the gallery and email nicola@nicolamccartney.co.uk to arrange collection after 12 July. All plates vary greatly in size, are painted with over-glazes by one of the workshop members, and have been fired in a domestic oven. They are SUPPOSEDLY dish-washer proof but we hope you like looking at them too!
Woman's Trust Greatly appreciates any and all of your support.
