Story
Not only was Noleen the charity founder, she was also an inspiration to all around her.
To some the name Noleen Adair is not instantly recognisable, but to many breast cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland Noleen was a force of inspiration and courage, you see she was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was just 22 years old.
Just a few years later in 2006 Noleen founded the charity Pretty ‘n’ Pink as she wanted to help raise awareness of breast cancer, and also raise funds to help others. The money remains within Northern Ireland and is used to fund the Pretty ‘n’ Pink Support Fund which distributes small grants to breast cancer patients and their families for help with practical everyday necessities that so many of us take for granted but which can come to mean so much to someone who has been diagnosed with cancer.
As well as helping in a financial capacity Noleen wanted to inspire others, and she did just that. She has touched the lives of breast cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland both through her charity and through inspiring others to keeping fighting.
At the charity's most recent gala event held in October she said;
“All I want from tonight is for it to be a big celebration, because I just don’t know where my life’s journey is going to take me, I suppose nobody does. But I just want everyone to have a smile on their face and a drink in their hands, whether you are drinking or not. Make the most of tonight, make sure you are on the dance floor from 10 o’clock onward, and have an amazing fabulous night.
And if you could all just raise your glass to cancer, and give it a big boot in the ass!”
Noleen loved life and she lived it to the full through her charity. We feel very fortunate and indeed truly privileged to have been able to share her journey of passion and determination as she fought to help others. Her memory will live on through the charity that she founded, and through the amazing legacy that she has left behind.
Thank you for helping keep her memory alive.
