Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
You Know I'm not even going to add too much more than that......Suffice to say I originally recorded this six years ago with the band HJ21 after a personal friend died in the kings cross bomb and as a tribute to her(she was training to be a kids nurse) i got a volunteer's job DJing on a Saturday afternoon at the Royal Marsden hospital.
It was here I saw a kid in an England football shirt who later died of Leukaemia and it made me think (havng just become a dad myself) 'How many kids like him would never get to kick a ball in a playground let alone at Wembley for England?'.
I then remembered my own heartache of being at the England v Germany Euro semi in 96 and coupled with Italia 90 I used all that emotion to write this song.
What followed for me personally was nothing but grief in which I had to pay for nearly everything myself got virtually no help from the Marsden itself apart from Jason( Radio Marsden chairman) or any of the national press.
In fact I was treated virtually like some 'Big brother Wannabe' or discarded lepper by most radio stations, Tv and media. Well all apart from a few local rags, BBC Surrey, the St Georges day.com people, the Pub and bar network and the England supporters band!
I never knew Charity was so political still it aint about me never wasl!!
So here's the song....Thanks To Mike Pete and Andy for playing on it so passionately!
