Story
Ramadan Family Commitment
Ramadan is a special time of year - a time when Muslims around the world take a step back from their daily routines and focus on community, charity, fasting, and prayer. Ibn Abbas described that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people, and even more so during the month of Ramadan.
"Those who spend their wealth by night and day, in secret and in public, shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (Qur'an 2:274). "By no means shall you attain righteousness unless you give freely from that which you love. And whatever you give, Allah knows it well" (Qur'an 3:92).
Dear brothers and sisters, Charity has its positive effects on the giver. It brings blessings to his wealth and children, prevents calamities and brings forth bliss. Ramadan is a month of charity. Spend out of your wealth on the poor and needy and be aware that avarice and stinginess does not keep wealth eternal, just as charity does not decrease it. Ibn al-Qayyim said, “Nothing brings Allah's blessings and prevents His punishment than obeying Him, moving closer to Him through acts of ibadah and being kind to His creatures.” Therefore, spend in charity, for charity elevates one's rank in front of Allah; and know that man is going to be under the shade of his charity on the Day of Resurrection.
Initiated in Ramadan 2007, Ramadan Family Commitment (RFC) is a scheme that will enable you to take part in numerous acts of charity by one single donation and payment. This year at Channel S we are committed to broadcast 27 charity appeals, one during each night of Ramadan.
Under the RFC scheme one single payment of £270.00 is equally distributed to the 27 organisations. Your donations will be distributed at an equal amount of £10.00 to each of the following organisations.
The benefit you gain out of this is that your one single payment covers all the appeals during the month and you need not worry about calling in on every appeal and suffering long bank queues during this month.
