An RSPCA Love Story...with a Ropey Twist
These two lovebirds have been married for 26 years and have dedicated their lives to a truly inspiring cause. Mick has been an RSPCA Inspector for 19 years and Lesley has managed the Puppy House and Cat & Kitten Intake Block at the Chesterfield Animal Centre for 14 years. Talk about dream jobs for animal-lovers! Never has there been a couple more passionate about or more committed to animal welfare than these two sweethearts.
Between the two of them, they have rescued, cared for and helped rehome literally thousands of animals. Mick is also the Coordinator for the RSPCA Flood Rescue Team and has valiantly gone on rescue missions to York, Cumbria, Cockermouth and Tewkesbury.
Mick and Lesley are now about to take on a courageous challenge, side-by-side for animals in need…yet again. This time, however, you won’t see them at the Animal Centre or wading through flooded streets, you will see them both dangling from ropes 120 ft (9 stories) above the ground at Chesterfield College!
We asked Lesley (who initially thought the idea of scampering down a 9 storey high building was absolutely terrifying) why she decided to register. ‘Animals, especially dogs, have always been my one true passion in life since I was a little girl. This event is raising funds to rebuild the dog kennels at the Centre, so sometimes you just have to put your fears behind you and take the plunge for something you love.’
We invite you to face your fears by joining Mick and Lesley on Sat 23 April as they take on the challenge for animals in need. Online registration is now open and great group discounts are available here:http://www.chesterfield-rspca.org.uk/…/fun…/abseil-challenge.
If abseiling isn’t your thing, but you would like to show your support for Mick and Lesley, please visit their JustGiving page where donations of all sizes are being very gratefully received!https://www.justgiving.com/RSPCA-Chesterfield-North-Derbysh…
We hope to see you at the event as we cheer on these two incredible animal heroes!
