Story

Being the Chief Executive and Assistant Chief Executive at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society is not all about sitting behind a desk and attending meetings.

This year Steve Hughson and Aled Jones have decided it is time to show the feature counties how appreciative they are of all their hard work fundraising for the society and are going to join in with their efforts.

The pair have thrown down the gauntlet and asked the feature counties to set them a ‘Chief Exec’s Challenge’ which they will battle to complete whilst being sponsored to help boost the county’s fund raising efforts each year.

This year the challenge, set by the feature county Radnor, will take place on Saturday 3 May. Starting at 8am, the tough 12-hour challenge will include:

a lap of the Cwmythig Hill motocross circuit on a mountain bike

a clay pigeon shoot against local experts

a gruelling hill run up over Radnor Forest

a sheep shearing task against the clock

a 5 mile horse ride

a driving range golfing challenge

and finally a sprint finish

… all in a days work for the top duo.

“We are always so appreciative of the efforts the feature county go to each year to raise money for the society. Without their help we would not be able to make the much needed improvements to the site and we want to make a contribution to help. This year Radnor are raising money to build an extension and improve the facilities at Neuadd Henllan.” explains Chief Executive, Steve Hughson

“By taking on this yearly challenge we are able to say a big thank you for the fundraising efforts of the feature county and aim to contribute to their total by getting sponsored to complete these action-packed challenges.” added Assistant Chief Executive, Aled Jones.
