Story
In 2014 the world lost a truly incredible guy, Thomas Alexander Simpson Scott.
Tom was my best friend and he never let his condition get in the way of what he loved doing - living! On June 21st 2014 he was sadly taken from us at 23 years old. He passed away due to SUDEP (Sudden and Unexpected Death in Epilepsy). SUDEP is a condition that is thought to be potentially unavoidable, and can be with the right medical research and funds to support this.
Only with more research can we hope to bring the best treatment needed for everyone with Epilepsy, and ultimately, find a cure. I never want another wonderful, loving family to go through the same pain the Scott family have. They are so bold and brave, and I want to help them in every way I can make a difference to the lives of others living with Epilepsy.
So I bet you're wondering where I fit in and why the London Marathon...well, I have always wanted to run the London Marathon, ever since I was a teenager. I often to spoke to Tom about my dream and he whole heartedly believed it was something I could achieve. Although he will never see me run through the finish line he will be there in spirit, from week 1 of training through to race day.
This by far, will be the biggest challenge of my life and I ask for your kind generosity to help me reach my fundraising target of £2,500. I know we can do it. I have every faith.
> £25 could fund a blood test to establish the correct drug at the right dosage
> £40 could enable the Epilepsy Society to take a DNA sample to help identify the cause of Epilepsy
> £100 could help the Epilepsy Society to identify genes connect to Epilepsy
Please help me on my way, and I promise to share updates and images of my Marathon journey. I appreciate all of your support.
