Story
As many of you are aware we lost Rachel on the 1st October 2014. She was admitted to Southmead Hospital, where she had been displaying unusual bruising on her body. They conducted many tests, however unfortunately within this time Rachel's condition deteriorated dramatically and unexpectedly she passed away on the 1st October 2014.
Since then we have been waiting for many months to find out what caused Rachel to leave us, we have now been informed Rachel had passed away due to 'Systemic Vasculitis'. She had been a healthy 24 year old Nurse looking forward to moving into her first house with her fiancé and planning for her wedding and future.
This has been a massive shock to her loved ones, friends and everyone that knew her.
There are many types of Vasculitis, but overall the condition is rare. Much is still unknown about Vasculitis, however, researchers continue to learn more about the condition and its various types, causes, and treatments. Our plan is to raise as much money as we can for Vasculitis UK to raise awareness and for them to continue their research, so hopefully in the future others can be helped earlier.
I know everyone who knew Rachel has been affected by this tragedy, many of Rays friends I know would love to come together in her memory and raise money to help others. Rachel lived to help everyone; I hope we can continue to do the same in her honour.
We have a number of Charity runs, Hikes etc. to raise money and we hope you can scrape together all you can to support us and Rays memory. We will be asking for donations via this page.
Please note: We are far from athletes (as I am sure many of you are aware) we will be taking part in some challenges that won’t come easy to us and some where we will celebrate what a wonderful light Ray was in our lives...She was after all 'Our little Ray of Sunshine.'
So here we go I hope you will aid us on our journey where we can keep Ray’s memory alive and do some good along the way.
We are so proud to have already raise £1035 for the Secret World Wildlife Rescue which was a Charity close to Rays heart hitting 103% of our target, during the time we have been waiting for Rays cause of Death. Let’s continue to make her send Rainbows proving she really was our Ray of Sunshine.
