Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my Thames Path Challenge JustGiving page. The walk (thamespathchallenge.com/oxford-to-henley-double-marathon) is really just a gentle stroll down the river from Oxford to Henley, just 84km, thats just over 52 miles, or two marathon distances.
This gentle stroll is expected to take 24 hours. The last time I walked even half that distance was fourteen years ago, so doing the double around several U bends in the Thames is a severe personal challenge. I am hoping to average 5kph, and yes we walk through the night... Why not plan to cheer me along the route!!!
I am doing this challenge to support Toilet Twinning, which since 2009 has twinned over 50,000 of our loos with latrines in the developing world. Thats 50,000 families whose dignity, health and economy have been raised, so just another 2.4 billion people, a third of the world's population, without sanitation to go! So they can go safely. Take a look at their work for yourself at toilettwinning.org/
My big push is to raise £1,260 for 21 loos, one every 4 kilometres, thats one every 48 minutes, and every donation, no matter how small, helps! Every £60 pays for one loo, and £240 covers a latrine block for a school.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. The costs of entry etc., are covered by myself, so once you donate, they'll send your money directly to Toilet Twinning. So it's an efficient way to donate - Thank You!
