Story
So this year, the Wellburn Family & Co will be taking up the sporting challenge of the decade:
Becca will be swimming 1000 lengths over 10 days between now and October when she will finish her challenge with the 10 mile great south run.
Adrian (her husband, and brother in law to the 3 Wellburn Bros) will be cycling the Winchester 100 Mile Race on July 15th 2012, and has already completed the 50 Mile Southern Spring Classic as part of his training.
The 3 Wellburn brothers (Tom, Dan & Murray) will be climbing 3 sets of 3 mountains spread across 3 countries in the UK finishing with the 3 highest in Britain. The total combined height tops Mt. Everest by over 100m. We’re aiming for at least one of us to have completed the challenge within just 3 weeks beginning on June 24th this year. We're calling it, 3 Brothers, 3x3 Peaks, 3 Weeks!

But WHY, you ask??!!
It is all in memory of our Dad, John Wellburn, who died 10 years ago this October. We are raising money for Christians Against Poverty, the UK's number one debt counselling agency. The financial problems that our Dad had over the years contributed significantly to his depression and subsequent suicide, so the work that CAP have developed over the past 15 years is work that we believe in and really want to support. Whether you are a Christian or not, debt and poverty in this country is at an all time high, and the work of CAP is providing genuine lasting help and support for those affected. Adrian and Becca have been on a CAP Money course, which we have found really helpful for general tips on handling finances day to day, but the work they do with those who are crushed by the burden of debt is what resonates with my personal experience of watching our parents suffer with debt and bankruptcy.
We are fortunate enough as a family that after our Dads passing, we did not inherit any of the debt, due to some fantastic advice from wise friends and church family. However, we did lose something that cannot be replaced, an incredible father, husband, brother, son and friend to many. There are many who do not have the support that they need in handling their debt and CAP are an organisation who are changing this.
There are some incredible testimonies of those who have been helped out of debt by the work of CAP - which you can view on their website:
