When we found out we were having a baby we skipped off to antenatal classes excited about the future. We met a fabulous group of expectant parents who shared the joy of welcoming our first children into the world.
One of our group was hit with a thunderbolt that no parent ever wants to experience. Isobel was diagnosed on 27th February 2014 at just 3 yrs 10 months old, with Neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. She went through intensive treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital but despite this, 18 months later, Isobel passed peacefully away at home on Tuesday 18th August 2015.
Isobel was born 9 days before William and I simply can't get my head around what Caroline and Mark are going through.
Last year, following my surgery, William and I ran the Great Mini Run to raise money for the scoliosis spinal charity. I said I wouldn't do it again this year with surgery number two looming but now I just have to. So William and I will be running the Great Mini Run in Gateshead next Saturday, 12th September, and will be raising money in memory of Isobel.
#Teamisobel raises money for the much needed research into Neuroblastoma at Birmingham University.
