Story
Rebekah Gibbs was many things: a loving wife, a doting and devoted mother, a daughter, a dear friend, and an outstanding actress. She was also someone who battled cancer.
Having terminal cancer is a lonely place to be, but Rebekah was lucky enough to have had the best care possible from Hospice in the Weald. They were outstanding in every way, they were dedicated and loving and nothing was too much trouble, either for her or her visitors. Every single person there, and attached to the organisation, was marvelous, the care she received was exemplary and they went above and beyond the call of duty until the very end. Rebekah felt loved and safe until her last day.
So many people rely on the kindness and skill of Hospice in the Weald, for some, it is all they have. Rebekah was lucky in many ways, she had a loving and devoted family and an amazingly dedicated circle of friends, but most of all, she had the kindness and skill of Hospice in the Weald. They supported her and her loved ones until the very end. We will miss our vivacious, loving, funny, beautiful and brave Rebekah every single day, forever, but the only thing that makes it bearable is the fact that she died feeling so safe. And that is down to the wonderful work done by Hospice in the Weald.
Hospice in the Weald are a charity, not part of the NHS and all of their care is offered free of charge to patients with a terminal illness, their families and carers. They depend on support from and in the community to enable their philosophy of care to reach more and more local patients, like Rebekah.
Hospice in the Weald put patients first to help make their remaining time as fulfilled and comfortable as it can be and their Counselling Service continue to support patient’s families, friends and carers to help ease emotional pain.
90p in every £1 Hospice in the Weald raises goes directly towards patient care. Every donation, no matter the size, helps them to reach the £6 million they need to raise every year just to sustain their current work.
