In September 2012 I was undergoing my third chemotherapy cycle whilst my
beautiful friends took part in a Triathlon to raise money for LINC, a local charity that provided me with psychological support for the ups and downs of my leukaemia.
I experienced a lot of downs whilst having treatment. My head was a mess having to cope not only with my diagnosis, but being taken straight from the doctors at diagnosis and placed into isolation for almost 6 months of treatment knowing that if nothing worked then I wouldn't have long to live. A lot of people commented on how well I seemed to cope and that was mainly because of LINC, they played a huge role in keeping me together and I'll always be thankful to them for that.
In 2013 I watched my friends fundraise fot LINC again by taking part in the triathlon, as I wasn't allowed to swim amongst all the germs. This
year I'm allowed to swim with my friends in as many germs as I want, so I'll be tackling my first triathlon with them wohoo! Afterwards, I'll be hosting a film themed Pub Quiz as another way to raise funds.
It's taking a long time to build my fitness up since my transplant, especially as I'm now borderline anemic, so I'm also taking part in the British Transplant Games as a warm up! I'm alive, I'm able, and I can vaguely resemble an athlete when sober :o)
I'm using all three events to try and raise as much for LINC as I can. So, would you like to help me raise money for LINC too? If so, I'd love it if you could spare some pennies. Thank you for anything you can donate, whether
it's 50p or £50 it will all go towards helping
people cope with the traumatic experiences of cancer.
Thank you xxxx
