Story
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
For next year I wanted to raise some much needed funds for The Mary Ann Evans Hospice; which relies on the generosity of people like yourselves to continue providing special care to local people in Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire who are living with a life limiting illness, mainly cancer.
Now to do this I wanted to commit to a challenge which I think is going to be very difficult.....namely three runs, in three months totalling just under 60 miles! The runs are the Coventry Half Marathon in February, the Ashby De La Zouch 20 miler in March and finally the Virgin London Marathon in April.
Those that know me will realise how tough this will be for me and how much I will have to train to reach these targets. I hope you will be able to support this fantastic cause.
I am also hoping to organise a virtual run for those of you who fancy undertaking your own challenges.
The Mary Ann Evans Hospice provides exceptional care and support to patients and their families in Nuneaton, Bedworth, North Warwickshire and surrounding villages through their Day Hospice, Hospice at Home, Lymphoedema and Bereavement service. Many people are unaware that Hospices not only provide care and support to those with a diagnosis of cancer but also for other life limiting illnesses. The Mary Ann Evans Hospice cares for those with a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
All care given by the Mary Ann Evans Hospice is provided free of charge although it is not free to provide, the shortfall in funding amounts to £2,500 EVERY DAY. The Mary Ann Evans Hospice receives only 30% of their running costs from Government funding, and the remainder is raised from the generous support from people like you. .
The Day Hospice provides care for up to 15 patients a day Monday to Friday and the Hospice at Home Team offers dedicated care and support to patients who choose to be cared for in their own home. They provide regular respite visits, usually 3 - 4 hours in length, to enable carers to take a well earned break. The service is available 7 days per week 7am – I0pm and it also offers a limited night service.
Any support and/or donations that you are able to offer will be very gratefully received and will help to make such a difference to this much needed local charity.
