Story
Having survived the 86 mile "swim" of 2014 and the perfect weather of Ride100 last year, I have somehow been coerced into racing again this year. Having broken my eldest brother last year, this year I have the pleasure of my other bro Geoff, in his last opportunity to race it before he hits his half century. The funds that Geoff and I raise will go directly to help develop the next generation of cancer researchers at Barts Cancer Institute, with the ultimate aim that the research we perform, and the researchers we train, will mean that one day no one has to lose someone they love to cancer.
Since joining Barts Cancer Institute in 2004, I have witnessed first hand the fantastic work that an amazing group of people are doing to try and improve the way we diagnose and treat cancer. Alongside world leading research, we are also helping to train the next generation of cancer researchers; schoolchildren, undergraduates, MSc students, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers.
The transition from postdoc to independent researcher marks a critical stage, and this year the Barts Cancer Institute Charity launched its "Bridge to the Future" scheme to support our Early Career Researchers who are taking the next steps to becoming independent cancer researchers and leaders in their field. 100% of the funds we raise will go to help support these future leaders of cancer research. Please sponsor us whatever you can afford. Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
