Story
Why Reach for the Skye? I've always been a firm believer in taking on something tough if I am going to ask people for sponsorship money! This IS going to be tough! I'd like to think I am mentally prepared: my background is long distance mountain bike riding and racing. I have competed in several 24hr solo events and I know how it feels to ride non stop through a day, a night, and then a day again. I have experienced the highs and lows that are part of the territory in rides like this and I understand how important it is to work as a team and support each other. Fortunately I have a great team to ride with.
I am raising funds for MS Relief. Through my work in cycling promotion, I have worked with the charity (at Benmar House in Morpeth) and helped them with their own fund raising event; a 24hr challenge that involved 'shifts' of short rides and rotations on turbo trainers. The feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive; turbo trainers were an enjoyable and safe way to get aerobic exercise for those whose balance was compromised by MS. For this reason I would like to raise funds for the MS Relief centre in Morpeth to purchase turbo trainers, and hopefully bikes to use on the trainers and beyond. It's a practical donation; something that I know that users of the centre will get a great deal of use from. Please help us purchase this simple but effective equipment. Thanks. Richard
