Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Isabella: On the 19th June I will be running 10km for the first time! Some of you might know that I absolutely hate running and I'm not very good at it either - so this is a big challenge for me but i'm excited to do it for a fantastic cause!
Richard: I hate running. I ran the London Marathon in 2011 and swore off running after that. To the detriment of my waistline, I've largely stuck to that.
But it's time, 5 years on, to dust the running shoes off and get one leg moving in front of the other for a great cause.
The Cause: Save A Child's Heart (SACH) is an Israeli charity providing free lifesaving heart operations to children from all over the world who are unable to get treatment in their own countries. Celebrating 20 years last year, SACH has saved the lives of over 3,700 children from all over the world - from Latin America to China, and Eastern Europe to the Middle East. Children are helped based on their clinical need, and not their race, nationality, religion or gender.
SACH also has a major role in training teams from these countries to be able to carry out procedures in their own hospitals, therefore being able to help even more children.
Even though all the SACH surgeons, nurses and other team members volunteer their time, and the Wolfson Hospital in Holon, Israel donate operating theatre time, each operation costs around $10,000.
Team SACH will be running in the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run 2016. None of us are keen runners, and we'll be running/walking a variety of distances from 1km to 16km - so there's a race for everyone regardless of fitness or age! We'll be running 10km, but could be pushed into greater distances if the sponsorship gets high enough!
We hope you'll support the amazing, lifesaving work SACH do, and if you want to take part in the event for Team SACH, please be in touch!
